Frequently
Asked Questions
What
is an e-book? An
e-book is an 'electronic' book which is designed
to be read on your desktop or handheld computer. Some e-books require
special 'e-book reader' software to view them.
All of the e-books available for download from this site
can be read on (almost) any PC with no special extra software.
What
kind of e-books are available? There
are e-books written on a variety of topics, ranging
from how-to fix a computer to cook e-books to various
types of fiction. We are always adding
more titles, so add e-Book-Zone to your bookmarks
and keep checking the e-book-store. Or better yet,
subscribe
to our newsletter and we'll let you know about
updates by email.
Why
would someone write an e-book instead of a 'regular'
book? E-books
can be written and then published online without a traditional
publishing company, so writers can bypass the agony of trying
to get their books published the traditional way,
and many have turned to e-publishing as an alternative.
Many successful e-books do end up in print.
What application do I need to read an e-book?
Most of the e-books available from e-Book-Zone are either self-running (EXE) e-books or Adobe PDF files.
The self running ebooks do not need any other application to open them - but they do require Windows 95 / IE 4.0 or greater
to be installed on your PC. When you have downloaded the
file just double-click the file to open it. Adobe PDF files require you to have the Free Adobe Acrobat Reader installed to open these ebooks.
What operating system do I need?
All of the EXE format e-books on this site require Windows 95 or above (see previous question).
The main requirement is that you have Internet Explorer 4.0 or above installed.
A few users have reported problems opening some e-books under Windows XP. If you experience this problem please contact us.
Some of the ebooks are in zip format, what do I do with these?
All of e-Book-Zone's PDF ebooks are compressed using the Zip archive format. To uncompress these files you will need to
have an unzip utility installed. A good program is Winzip, which you can download a free no-nag trail copy of from www.winzip.com.
How do I know my payment is secure?
All our payments are processed through PayPal via their secure server. The charge will appear on
your credit card as PayPal - Ezone Entrp. Or if you already have a PayPal account, you can use
available funds for your ebook purchase.
PayPal is used by millions for website purchases as well as for auction payments. And, PayPal has
one of the most rigorous anti-fraud policies of any credit card processor, online or offline,
so we both are protected.
I've never downloaded a file before, what do I do?
The procedure depends on the type of PC you have...
Windows users: Click on the download link. Choose "Save Target As..." from the pop-up menu and then choose a place to save it on your computer.
Mac users: Hold down the control key and then click the download link. When a menu pops up (keep holding the control key and mouse button until it does)
choose the "Download Link to Disk" option and choose a place on your computer to save it.
(Hint: If you save the ebook to the Desktop you'll be able to find it easily.)
